The first story introduces the next eight. Those eight stories are the main part of the book. The first three are comedic, the next two are transitions stories that lead to the final three tragedies. The concluding story is a story of inspiration.

Introduction: I Don't Make the Pizzas Anymore
Jeremy is thinking about quitting school at a local community college and work full time at “Pizza For You.” It is Labor Day weekend and Jeremy must decide now, because classes start Tuesday. As he contemplates the situation he becomes part of the stories in Daville, the town he lives in.
1. Dennis Gets Drugs
Dennis’ plans for Friday night are to see his favorite band perform at a local club. After encountering the band in the middle on the street, the band leader Rafe Taylor, asks if he will supply the band with drugs before the show. Dennis agrees even though he has never bought, used or even seen a live drug in his twenty years of life. This request takes up his whole day.
2. The Visitors
Henry Sutton has a good job, a new car and a new house, now he is finally ready to get himself a girlfriend. But once he gets the courage to ask a girl out on a date, three aliens from space come to earth and warn him human life will end shortly if he takes this girl out.
3. Detour to Bury Neglect
Barry does not mess with ghosts. Whether they exist does not matter to him, he just does not mess with the concept. Following a nice night of bowling, Barry must take a detour by a notorious cemetery on route to his home. As he passes by the cemetery, he is greeted by a suspected ghost.
4. Known for His Music
Vincent Forester left his home and career in New York to focus on a music career in Los Angles. While working at a restaurant in Hollywood, Vincent is requested to take stage and perform in an act of desperation to help his boss.
5. What a Difference a Year Makes
Although Cindy and Blake at one time would push each other on the swing set in their neighborhood as kids, they rarely meet anymore as teenagers. Before Cindy leaves for college, she wishes to rekindle with Blake.
This story takes place in the year 2054. Due to overpopulation, the government passed a law thirty-years before that states: Every man and woman who turns thirty-years-old in the year 2014 and forward, will be put to rest at the conclusion of his or her sixtieth birthday. Today, is Peter’s Grandma Bridget’s sixtieth birthday.
7. Outside My Window: The Free Dog
A true story of a stray dog roaming the streets one night. All of the dog’s encounters and adventures during this night are told in this story.
8. Causes Still Unknown
After the Bum writes Myron Downing’s name on the wall outside of his nook, Myron begins to feel more and more ill each week. Myron knows about the Bum and the warnings that follow, but he stubbornly denies that there is anything wrong with him or that the Bum would have anything to do with it.
Conclusion: My Father, My Friend
The Son tells this story about testing his Father's way. After graduating high school, he moves out of his parent's home and rooms with a mysterious man. This man, who becomes his Friend, teaches what life has to offer outside of his Father’s way.
